As a child, having my mother sing to me in French immersed me in a world where the foreign words of the lyrics incited my curiosity in their meaning and melody. A French high-school teacher and a passionate of Edith Piaf, she would continuously inspire my interest in a foreign language. The sound of my mother’s singing voice and her passion for teaching and learning French, had an impact on me as I was growing up and has remained with me to the present.
After pursuing a BA in English Studies at the University of Murcia in Spain, I then arrived at West Virginia University seeking an opportunity to have a more thorough study of SLA. I chose to enroll in a Master’s degree in TESOL and their research-oriented program allowed me to gain insights into the field by examining different types of empirical studies and working with data analysis.
I am currently pursuing a PhD in Hispanic Linguistics (Department of Spanish and Portuguese) at the University Arizona. This is being a great opportunity to continue deepening my knowledge on linguistics and SLAT, as well as getting to know great professors and colleagues.
I like traveling, spending time with my family and my friends... and I do love MUSIC!
